Meet the Beauty Maven Mom Behind Natural Grace Organics!
Heather McCoy created Natural Grace skincare to help her daughter’s super sensitive skin. Little did she know that the idea was genius!
-Lucia Peters
Like many organic skincare makers, Heather McCoy began when she wasn’t able to find what she needed in the products already available on the market. But Heather’s situation was direr than most—because the health of her baby daughter, Grace, was at stake. Heather’s company, Natural Grace Organics, grew out of her love for her daughter and her search for a cure for Grace’s seemingly incurable skin problems. Talk about hands-on parenting!
And hey, guess what? This beauty maven and mom of the year’s Natural Grace products are available now in an exclusive flash sale at BettyConfidential Shop, so whether you’ve got super sensitive skin or just love luxurious body products, be sure to head on over there to snag them for yourself!
We were lucky enough to be able to sit down for a chat with Heather recently. Read on to find out about her skincare role models, what she would be doing if she weren’t making beauty products (hint: Don Draper may or may not be involved…), and more!
BettyConfidential: How did you become a maker of organic skincare? Can you tell us a little about how Natural Grace came to be?
Heather McCoy: It all began with my daughter, Grace. Her skin was so sensitive when she was a baby that she was always breaking out with hive-like patches all over her body—which made her absolutely miserable! After several trips to the pediatrician, the doctor concluded that “it could be anything” causing the breakouts. Desperate to find a solution, I hit the books and learned about the toxic ingredients and irritants found in most commercial and synthetic bath and body products. But after using natural ingredients on her skin, baby Grace was cured! Since then my love for creating natural products has turned into my mission to offer natural, skin-benefiting products and education.
BC: Had you ever dabbled in making body products or in other types of design before creating Natural Grace?
HMC: I used to love to design advertisements for fictitious brands as a hobby. My art teacher in college used to say I should go into advertising.
BC: We’ll keep that in mind if we ever score a meeting at Sterling and Cooper! What was the first product you ever made?
HMC: A honey and oatmeal facial scrub that worked great—but I didn’t think about the fact that it would mold when I made it!
BC: What’s your personal skincare routine like? Have any tips to share?
HMC: I personally use the am/pm wash, tone, serum, moisturize routine; I switch it up seasonally. My best tip? Reevaluate your skin care routine at the change of each season. Your skin changes with the changes in weather.
